Harness Racing

It is good to see that the interest in Harness Racing both in Sweden and Australia is starting to gather momentum here and that the totes are starting to pick up nicely, Shepperton 7th race today had a swinger poole of just over 20k and a win pool (albeit co mingled) of over 80k,the betting seems to be a fairly good guide as horses run ,for the most part, true to form...don't forget to visit our formgrids site where all the form is available...

Now fittingly comes the breaking news that it will soon be up and "trotting" right here in South Africa:

Harness Racing Association of South Africa is dedicated to Trotting, the Standardbred, and the competition and sportsmanship of the non-gallop gaits. Harness Racing, or Trotting, is an equine sport which on a combined and collective global basis is as large worldwide as conventional flat horse racing. It has huge public appeal in Europe, North America, and Australasia. Utilising the horse, or “trotter” (as they are called in Europe), a light weight "sulky"of ±20Kgs and driver, racing takes place on oval sand tracks over a distance of 1 mile (1600m).
Live simulcasts are available on DSTV’s Telly Track of Swedish racing on which South African punters can bet. These simulcasts can be viewed on DSTV's channel channel 232 - TellyTrack at lunchtime on Mondays.
Coming to a race track near you The first tracks will be situated in KZN province, and Scottsville and Dundee racetracks are both currently being surveyed for these purposes. Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloemfontein are also earmarked as future M track-sites, and Bisho, Umtata, Polokwane, as future R tracks.
Good (harness)Racing,
The Big G.
